A walk down Orchard road’s Christmas On A Great Street and the Christmas Village
104 trees will be lit-up with energy-saving LED bulbs, which will also be used for Chinese New Year and Valentine’s Day in early 2023.
Orchard Road’s annual Christmas light up has started for the 39th year running, transforming the shopping district into a festive wonderland.
Here are the sights and sounds visitors can expect to see on a walk down Orchard Road:
This year’s edition of the Christmas on a Great Street light-up will see the return of light displays starting from Tanglin Road.
The teal and white coloured arch at Tanglin Road serves as a welcome arch marking the first light display along Orchard.

It is hard to miss the 171 lamp posts dressed in grand LED decorations lighting up Orchard Road. The lamp post decorations, across the three zones namely Tanglin, Orchard and Somerset, feature several motifs including carousels and hot air balloons.
The lamp-post decorations range between nine to 12 metres in height.
The new feature is the light-up of trees on Orchard Road with energy-saving LED lights. The lights, which are white this Christmas, will take on pink hues during Chinese New Year and Valentine’s day early next year.

Walking down Orchard Road, Christmas carols were broadcasted over 51 speakers mounted on 37 lamp posts around five areas on Orchard Road. The carols add to the festive mood from 10am to 6.59pm daily until Jan 2, 2023.
The highlight installation is the main arch at Orchard Road standing at the junction of Orchard and Scotts Road. It features red, white and teal design elements including ornate Christmas trees decorated with reindeer and baubles on each side.

Nearby at ION Orchard stands Asia’s largest Dior Enchanted Star spanning 15 metres tall.

Along Orchard Road, there are several pop-ups and set pieces located along the pedestrian walkway from ION Orchard to Mandarin Gallery. These include Gucci beauty and Braun Buffel pop-ups.
There are also interactive set pieces serving as photo backdrops for photo opportunities.

A huge 10-minute multimedia 3D projection show with augmented reality features will take place each night from 7pm to 10pm on the facade of Mandarin Gallery facing Ngee Ann City, while a second projection will be facing the Somerset area, one of the first things to notice on Orchard Road.
Through scanning QR codes projected with the PopAR app, augmented reality elements including snowflakes and fireworks can be seen.

On Christmas eve and Christmas days, special features will appear on the outdoor projection.
The Christmas Village in front of Ngee Ann City has made a return after a two-year hiatus. It features a brand-new all-white carousel taking centre-stage, an Inflatable Bouncer and rides such as the Samba Balloon, Red Swing, Pirate Ship, Trackless Train and Teacups.

Live music performances are available every evening from Fridays to Sundays. Visitors can look forward to the sounds of local performers including Jack & Rai, Cold Cut Duo, Daniel Sid and Fyrdaus Macbeth.
The Christmas on a Great Street light-up and Great Christmas village will run until Jan 2, 2023.
