A guide to all five Poly Open Houses 2023
The open houses will take place from Jan 5 to 7.
Whether you’re a graduating secondary school student awaiting the release of the ‘O’ Level results in January 2023, or are sitting for ‘O’ Levels in 2023, you’re probably posed with the question of what to study next.
For those considering the polytechnic route, the five polytechnics are hosting both physical and virtual open houses from Jan 5 to 7 to help prospective students find out more about what’s on offer.
These open houses will come in handy, especially if you are still undecided.
Here’s all you need to know about each polytechnic’s open houses in 2023:
1. Temasek Polytechnic (TP)

TP will have a physical open house over the weekend, with seminars by the various schools taking place on Jan 7.
Learn how to make the most of the 12 Joint Admissions Exercise (JAE) choices, find out about the changes in the poly education landscape and discover the latest developments in TP through the seminar.
Lecturers from all six schools will also be present to take any questions participants have relating to a particular diploma course or field of study.
The seminars for the respective will be held at these locations and timings:
School of Design – Lecture Theatre 24 Blk 28, Level 1 (DG28-01-07), 10am to 12pm.
School of Engineering – Lecture Theatre 46 & 47, Blk 15, Level 1 LT46 (EN15-1-18) & LT47 (EN15-1-71), 10am to 12pm.
School of Humanities and Social Sciences – East Wing Seminar Room, East Wing Blk 1A, Level 4, Room 74 (EW1A-04-74), 10am to 12pm.
School of Applied Science – Lecture Theatre 15, Blk 7, Level 7 (IT7-7-41), 1pm to 3pm.
School of Business – Blk 26B, Auditorium 3, from 1pm to 3pm.
School of Informatics & IT – Lecture Theatre 4, Blk 3, Level 3 (IT3-3-26), from 1pm to 3pm.
Each school will also have Open House Highlights like behind-the-scenes access into the role of a pharmacy technician at the School of Applied Science or a fashion show featuring the works of the graduating cohort of the School of Design’s Diploma in Apparel Design & Merchandising. On Jan 6, from 5pm to 8pm, TP will host its first evening festival which includes live performances, food stalls and pop-up installations at the plaza.
Some food stalls include a Mexican food truck giving out Chicken Burrito and Nacho Chips and a local fare food truck offering Blue Chicken Rice and Rainbow Muah Chee for free. And look out for Tommy from NBCB Burger who will be there at 6pm with some surprise NBCB x TP vouchers!

TP also has a virtual tour of its campus for students and parents to access anytime, anywhere.
2. Singapore Polytechnic (SP)

SP’s physical open house will be held only on Jan 6 and 7.
Guided school tours are available across both days, at 10am, 12pm, 2pm and 4pm.
Visitors can explore SP’s labs, classrooms and other facilities and talk to the lecturers and students to find out more about the course you’re interested in during counselling sessions.
As limited seats are available, registration is required. Visitors are advised to avoid registering for consecutive timings as each tour will take approximately two hours.
If you have questions about admissions, scholarships or financial assistance, or want to find out more about the Polytechnic Foundation Programme and Continuing Education Training, information booths will be set up at SP Convention Centre (Level 1) for you to speak with the school’s staff.
The booths will run from 10am to 6pm on both days.
Appointments with SP’s Education and Career Guidance (ECG) counsellors can also be arranged should you need help with your education and career planning.
As there are limited slots, do register beforehand. The sessions will take place at the SP Auditorium Lounge.
Final Year students from the School of Electrical & Electronic Engineering and School of Mechanical & Aeronautical Engineering will also put on an Engineering Show at Eleven², where they’ll showcase the cutting-edge innovations they’ve developed.
If you have any questions, you can feel free to raise them during the various project demonstrations. The SP Engineering Show 2023 will run from Jan 5 to 7, from 10am to 6pm.
Visitors can also look forward to performances by the students from CCAs like Mixed Martial Arts, Strictly Dance Zone, Karate, Malay Language Society. The CCA Showcase will happen from Jan 6 to 7.
Parents who’d like to find out more about polytechnic education and admissions matters can attend the Parents’ Forum that will take place at the SP Auditorium on Jan 7 from 10am to 6pm.
The forum is by registration only. While limited seats are available for the in-person session, parents can also join online via Zoom.
‘N’ Level students who are considering joining the Polytechnic Foundation Programme (PFP) can sit through the PFP Seminar at Lecture Theatre 18A to gain insights on the entry requirements and discover strategies on course selection. The seminar is on Jan 7, from 11.30am to 12.30pm.
Likewise, registration has to be made as seats are limited. Otherwise, students and parents can join online via Zoom.
And of course, what’s an open house without freebies? Customise your own SP goodie bag at the DIY Silk Screen Printing booth and fill it up with a free pair of socks and SP t-shirts at the Social Media Booth.
3. Ngee Ann Polytechnic (NP)

From 10am to 6pm, NP will host a hybrid open house.
Courses, admissions and ECG counselling sessions will be available across the three days at the NP Convention Centre.
Similarly, NP’s CCA Xperience will take place on all three days at the Atrium/Student Plaza.
Courses and career talks by the different schools will be hosted online on Jan 5 and 6; on Jan 7, the talks will be held in-person, at the NP Convention Centre.
Online talks by the School of Business & Accountancy, School of Design & Environment, School of Engineering and School of Film & Media Studies will happen at 11am on Jan 5 and at 1pm on Jan 6.
Online talks by the School of Health Sciences, School of Humanities & Social Sciences, School of InfoComm Technology, School of Life Sciences & Chemical Technology will happen at 1pm on Jan 5 and at 11am on Jan 6.
For those who’d prefer in-person talks, they will be held on Jan 7 from 10.30am to 3.45pm.
Online admissions talks for ‘O’ Level students will happen at 2pm on Jan 5 and 6 while an in-person session will happen at 2pm on Jan 7. As for ITE and ‘N’ Level students, there are in-person sessions at 10.30am and 4pm on Jan 7, respectively.
For students whose parents have concerns about their prospective choices, there’s the in-person Parents’ Forum on Jan 7 at 10am.
Other talks include the in-person Scholarships Talk at 11.30am on Jan 7 and Next Steps After Poly at 3pm on Jan 7. There are also online sessions for Next Steps After Poly at 3pm on Jan 5 and 6.
All in-person talks will be held at the NP Convention Centre. Registration for the online talks can be made here.

4. Nanyang Polytechnic (NYP)
NYP will host a hybrid open house. It’ll run from 10am to 6pm on Jan 5 and 6, and 12pm to 10pm on Jan 7.
For those wondering how to navigate post-secondary choices, there’ll be a CHOICES Seminar on Jan 6 at 7pm at Blk A, Auditorium.
As seats are limited, registration is required.
To find out more about the diploma courses offered, admissions, scholarships, or PFP, lecturers will be stationed at Blk A, Auditorium to answer your questions.
Activities, showcases and guided tours for students to check out the facilities will also happen throughout campus.
The CCA groups will also organise an array of activities like karaoke sessions, games and competitions at T-junction.
To find out more about your strengths and interests, ECG counsellors will run a Discover Your Potential workshop for students and their parents to attend. It’ll be at Blk A, Auditorium on Jan 7 from 10.30am to 12pm.
Registering early will entitle visitors to express redemption of the NYP crossbody bag.
5. Republic Polytechnic (RP)

RP’s hybrid open house will run from 10am to 6pm over the three days.
Students can check out the teaching and learning facilities through scheduled tours. Onsite course counselling will be provided to those who sign up.
Those who register early will also get e-vouchers.
To gain a better understanding of the various options RP offers, talks by the schools will also be available.
On Jan 5, the School of Engineering, the School of Technology for the Arts and the School of Hospitality will have talks at 1pm, 3pm and 5pm respectively.
On Jan 6, the School of Sports, Health and Leisure and the School of Infocomm will have talks at 1pm and 3pm respectively.
On Jan 7, the School of Management and Communication and the School of Applied Science will have talks at 3pm and 5pm respectively.
There’s also Future, Venture, Nurture @ RP – How to decide on a diploma to pursue your interests, passion and purpose on Jan 6 at 5pm.
The talk aims to provide insights on RP’s opportunities and support for students to pursue their interests, passion and purpose, and reach their potential.
PFP and JAE students can also look forward to admission talks on Jan 7 at 11am and 1pm respectively.
Students who’d wish to speak to the lecturers can sign up for online course counselling which will take place from Jan 5 to 7, Jan 12 to 17 and Feb 2 to 7.
Those who’d prefer speaking face-to-face can go down to the RP campus and walk into W1 Forum at Blk W1, Level 1. No appointments or pre-bookings are required.
