With ‘O’ Level results releasing next Wednesday (Jan 12),  it’s the time for a crucial decision to be made for the majority of graduating secondary school students: Where and what to study next.

For those who intend to choose the polytechnic path, there are hundreds of courses available that may seem daunting and overwhelming to those who are unsure about their interests and skill sets.

Even those who know what course they want to study may not know which school would suit them best, as each school may specialise in different aspects.

That’s where open houses come into handy!

All five polytechnics across Singapore are hosting both physical and virtual open houses this weekend (Jan 6 to Jan 8) to help interested students find out more about what each school offers.

Here’s all you need to know about each polytechnic’s open houses in 2022:

1. Singapore Polytechnic (SP)

From Jan 6 to Jan 8, SP is having a virtual open house.

On Friday (Jan 7), live webinars and Q&A sessions will be held from 10am to 5pm; and 10pm to 6pm on Saturday (Jan 8).

The School of Electrical & Electronic Engineering and School of Mechanical & Aeronautical Engineering will have info sessions slots from 10am to 11am, as well as 3pm to 4pm on Jan 7; and 2pm to 3pm on Jan 8.

The School of Architecture & the Built Environment and the Singapore Maritime Academy have their info sessions on Jan 7, 2pm to 3pm and Jan 8, 5pm to 6pm.

Live talk shows on maintaining study-life balance hosted by student leaders are also available from 1pm to 2pm on Jan 7, and 2pm to 3pm on Jan 8.

Unsure about which course in SP to take up? ECG counselling where you can get valuable advice on education and career planning will be available from 10am to 5pm on Jan 7, and 10am to 6pm on Jan 8.

2. Ngee Ann Polytechnic (NP)

NP is having a hybrid open house with both online and physical programmes from Jan 6 to Jan 8.

On-campus visits are currently available through registering slots here per school in NP. Visiting slots are now only available for Jan 8.

The School of Design & Environment and School of Health Sciences still have slots at 10am to 12pm, 1pm to 3pm, as well as 4pm to 6pm available.

The School of Engineering only has a 4pm to 6pm slot left to register for, while the School of InfoComm Technology has available slots for 1pm to 3pm.

The School of Life Sciences & Chemical Technology is left with 10am to 12pm, and 1pm to 3pm slots.

Sadly, visitor registration has closed for the School of Business & Accountancy, School of Film & Media Studies, and School of Humanities & Social Sciences.

Don’t worry if you failed to register for on-site visits because NP also has live guided virtual campus tours at 11am and 3pm daily via Zoom here.

There is even a Telegram channel you can join where NP student ambassadors will be there to answer all your queries on poly life, NP’s courses, and any more questions you may have!

More information on NP’s virtual programmes can be found here.

3. Nanyang Polytechnic (NYP)

If you would like to explore NYP’s campus and facilities, physical guided tours are available via booking.

Of course, prospective students aren’t on this journey alone. For parents who would like tips on helping their child with course selections, NYP is hosting a parent’s webinar programme via Zoom on Jan 7 at 7pm.

A 360 degree virtual tour of the school is also available where you will be able to explore the school online with a virtual tour guide and even interactive activities!

4. Temasek Polytechnic (TP)

TP’s open house is also held from Jan 6 to Jan 8.
