5 ways to spice up your iPhone home screen with iOS 15
The introduction of the new Focus mode now allows iPhone users to switch between different layouts for their home screen.
When Apple announced iOS 14 last year, it was a huge upgrade to the design of the iPhone’s inner layout. And when we thought it couldn’t get any better, iOS 15 was released Sep 15 this year.
While the home screen of iOS 15 looks pretty much the same as iOS 14, the newest iOS upgrade introduced Focus, allowing us to have multiple modes on our phones.
This means that apart from the changing of icons and addition of widgets to the home screen we already know about, we can now have multiple home screen layouts that we can switch between whenever we want.

If you have some time on your hands and would like to personalise your iPhone home screen even further, here are some Focus mode ideas to get you started!
1. Separate your study or work apps
Sometimes we may find it hard to not get distracted by other things on our phone — especially social media — while we are trying to focus on a mundane task. Just checking Instagram for a minute can eventually turn into scrolling through your feed for an hour.
This is why setting up a Focus mode for just the relevant apps you require for studying or work would help increase productivity.

This way, your home screen will still look visually pleasing while also ensuring you do not get distracted by other apps.
2. Set up a mode just for games
If you enjoy playing mobile games or perhaps you would just like a video game themed home screen, try setting up a Focus mode for all your entertainment-related apps.
You could also customise photo widgets and app icons into your favourite video game characters!

This will also help you separate your work and study apps from your entertainment, allowing you to better relax and game.
3. Create different aesthetics
Focus mode doesn’t have to be used solely for productivity’s sake. In fact, many users online use it to have multiple design choices to fit their different moods.
Perhaps you prefer design and aesthetics when it comes to customising your home screen, but can’t decide between what kind of layout you want.

Now, you can set multiple home screens of different design aesthetics for each Focus mode.
4. Split themes by your interests and hobbies
If you’re someone with multiple interests and can’t decide on what theme you want your home screen to be, now you can have as many as you like!

This way, you can change up your home screen whenever you want with ease.
5. Have a dark and light mode
Sometimes, simplicity is key. If keeping things minimalistic is your style, you could go with a simple white home screen layout and then add a dark themed Focus mode for when you’re in “emo hours”.

Apple’s introduction of Focus to the iOS 15 is not only enabling productivity but is especially helpful for those who enjoy having many design choices.
But, do be warned! Speaking from personal experience, you may end up spending over two hours redesigning your home screen. However, the visual appeal sure will be worth it in the end.
