5 things to look forward to at Chingay 2023
Those hosting watch parties can stand a chance to win up to $6000 worth of vouchers.
As Chingay returns in full-scale for the first time in two years, beyond the usual parade at the F1 Pit Building which is set to run from Feb 3 to 4, Singaporeans can also expect live performances, attractions and community-based activities.
These additional activities will take place over the course of the following week, from Feb 5 to 12.
Here are five things to look forward to at Chingay 2023:
1. Catch brand new action-packed performances
Spectators can look forward to acts such as longboarding, parkour, and BMX bike stunt performers.
These performances will align with the festival’s theme, Embrace Tomorrow, where Chingay aims to provide young, talented Singaporeans to showcase their skills in a mix of traditional, contemporary visual and performing art.
2. Become an aesthete with Chingay’s creative art installations
Chingay 2023 also features innovative art pieces for its spectators to see. This includes a container art installation made up of 28 20-footer and 40-footer containers and a Rabbits ART-Venture installation which consists of creative portrayals of the “Chingay Rabbit” following the theme, Future Singapore.

These artworks are part of collaborative efforts between youths from various local schools and eight local artists.

Those keen to visit the artworks can do so at the F1 Pit Building.
The Rabbits ART-Venture installation is open to public viewing from 6pm to 10pm on Feb 3 and 4, and from 2pm to 10pm on Feb 5.
The container art installation will be put up on Feb 5 from 2pm to 10pm, and Feb 6 to 9 from 6pm to 10pm.
3. Go behind the scenes with the Chingay 2023 Taster Experience
Ever wondered how Chingay campaigns are organised and brought to life? There’s the Chingay 2023 Taster Experience, which offers a variety of exclusive activities such as a 45-minute Behind The Scenes tour and a light show.
Those keen to take part can head down to the F1 Pit Building from Feb 5 to 9.
It also comprises various recreational-based workshops, including dance, arts, and urban sports.
Held from Feb 20 to Mar 19, activities include multi-ethnic dance, tap dance, jazz dance, latin dance, rollerblading, longboarding, and batik painting.
Those keen to sign up for the Chingay 2023 Taster Experience can look out for an exclusive link that will be available on the Chingay webcast at further notice.
4. Discover Chingay 2023 in the heartlands
Like every other year, this edition of Chingay will expand its celebrations closer to residents, with various heartland locations selected as hosts.
From Feb 11 to Mar 5, Chingay@Heartlands will celebrate at multiple Group Representation Constituencies (GRCs), Single Member Constituencies (SMCs), and various public facilities islandwide.
These include East Coast GRC, Tampines GRC, Our Tampines Hub, Choa Chu Kang GRC, Hong Kah North SMC, Ang Mo Kio GRC, Yio Chu Kang SMC, Kebun Baru SMC, Nee Soon GRC, Tanjong Pagar GRC and Radin Mas SMC.
As part of efforts to enable more Singaporeans to enjoy the Chingay spirit, Chingay@Heartlands is set to feature programmes such as the Chingay Truncated Show, Chingay Floats Caravan, Chingay Mini Floats display and roving Chingay performers.
5. Join Chingay’s watch party draws to win lucrative prizes
The annual watch party draws continue to feature in this year’s celebrations, with up to $6000 worth of vouchers to be won.
There are two main categories for this year’s watch party – the Lucky Watch Party and the Creative Watch Party. Those interested can choose to take part in either one or both draws.
The Lucky Watch Party is applicable to watch parties with a minimum of two attendees. A Total of 25 winners will be selected to win prizes that include $100, $300, and $500 worth of vouchers.
Whereas for the Creative Watch Party, it requires its participants to adopt a theme. Five hosts will be selected at random to win $500 worth of vouchers each.
Chingay also aims to gather support to watch the celebrations for a good cause. Sponsored by the DFI Retail Group, Chingay pledges to donate $10,000 worth of vouchers should it amass 20,000 views. This is part of their efforts to help underprivileged families in Singapore.
Those keen to play hosts must register their interest by Feb 5, 12pm, via this form. Winners of the respective draws will be notified via email by Mar 15.
Tickets for Chingay 2023 start at $20 and can be bought via SISTIC. For those planning to catch the telecast, it will air live on Feb 3 on the Chingay website and its Facebook page. Otherwise, you can also catch the delayed telecast on Channel 5 and 8 on Feb 19 at 7.30pm.
