SAF hopes that these dogs, who have spent their years serving the SAF obediently, will be adopted into a family and experience life outside the military. Meanwhile, dogs who remain unadopted will remain in SAF’s for their remaining years.
This time, the dogs up for adoption are between the ages of 8 and 11 and include breeds such as Malinois, German Shepherds, and Labrador Retrievers.
All the dogs have also gone through regular health checks by in-house veterinarians, which include yearly vaccinations, a routine heartworm treatment and a parasite prevention programme.
The adoption drive is only open to Singapore residents.
HDB-approved dogs, such as the Labrador Retrievers, are available for adoption under Project ADORE, provided that owners keep to one registered dog in their household.
The Malinois and German Shepherds, on the other hand, can only be adopted by non-HDB households.
Interested dog lovers can fill up the application form here or visit MINDEF’s website for more information about the adoption drive.
