10 activities to do over the National Day weekend for those not at the parade

The National Day Parade is finally back in its full glory after two-years of smaller scale celebrations.

If you’re not able to get tickets for the National Day Parade this year, there are still plenty of other ways to celebrate Singapore’s 57th birthday.

We have gathered 10 activities lined up during the National Day weekend for you to join in the festivities.

1. Red Lions Free-fall

This year, you can catch the free-fall jumps at two heartland locations on Aug 7. 

The Red Lions will be at the open field next to Junction 8 mall from 8.40am to 9.30am and the open field next to North Buona Vista Road from 9.10am to 10am.

Cheer on the Red Lions and stand a chance to win exclusive NDP memorabilia at the Red Lions @ Heartlands!

2. Heartlands Celebrations

You don’t have to travel too far to join in the celebration, as you can visit the NDP @ Heartlands carnivals! 

There will be five carnival locations at heartlands in Singapore, with family activities, exhibitions and performances. The locations are:

  • Central Singapore (Bishan-Ang Mo Kio Park, Ficus Green): Aug 6, 4pm to 9pm
  • North East (Punggol Open Field beside Waterway Point): Aug 6, 4pm to 9pm
  • North West (Open Space next to Sembawang MRT Station): Aug 6, 4pm to 9pm
  • South West (Open Field next to Buona Vista MRT Station): Aug 6, 4pm to 9pm
  • South East (Wisma Geylang Serai): Aug 7, 4pm to 9pm

3. Rediscover Singapore 57 Mass Run Walk

Checkpoint B, in conjunction with GetActive! Singapore, is organising a 5.7km family-oriented run walk to celebrate Singapore’s 57th birthday. 

Held on Aug 7, you can rediscover Singapore through historical military and green landmarks, along with a sensorial eco tour.

Explore Yunnan Garden, Singapore Discovery Centre, Tengah Reservoir and more at Rediscover Singapore 57. Donations made will also go to MINDS (Movement for the Intellectually Disabled of Singapore), the event’s official charitable beneficiary.

4. Majulah Block Party

Celebrate Singapore’s 57th birthday at Majulah Block Party, a curated youth festival held at *SCAPE Underground and Somerset Youth Park on Aug 6. Festival-goers can expect food pop-ups, live music and dance performances. 

Spend your National Day weekend supporting local artists from music labels HVT Entertainment, Allure Records and Dreamfellas. There will also be a hip-hop afterparty by DJ Hanif.

The festival will be held from 2pm to 11.30pm and admission is free. Get your tickets here now!

5. National Day Light-up at Singapore’s historical landmarks

Watch Singapore’s landmarks illuminate with colours that represent our country this National Day weekend! 

Organised by the National Heritage Board, the National Day Light-Up features six iconic landmarks across the Bras Basah.Bugis (BBB) precint lighting up in colours of the Singapore flag.

Check out this TikTok for a sneak peek of the National Day Light-up! The light-up at the various landmarks will be held from Aug 1 to 27 from 7.30pm to 12am daily, with the National Museum’s light-up running from Jul 18 to Aug 10. Find out more here.

6. Yoga at Gardens By The Bay

Spend a relaxing weekend at yoga sessions held at Gardens By The Bay. 

Held on Aug 6 and 7, the event features yoga sessions conducted by various trainers from Yoga Lab and Music Magic Yoga.

You can enjoy yoga sessions with enchanting live music and lush greenery while doing good at the same time, as proceeds raised from the ticket sales will go to the Children’s Cancer Foundation. 

Some sessions will also feature 57 Sun Salutations, a sequence of yoga poses for the spine, in celebration of Singapore’s 57th birthday.

7. SingaPAW Weekend

Pet-lovers – you definitely do not want to miss out on Hope For Animal’s SingaPAW Weekend! 

The free carnival is held on Aug 6 and 7 at South Beach Avenue, and you can look forward to dog-friendly F&B outlets, adoption drives and booths for you to shop from. There will also be an NDP inspired Ant Nest created by The Ant Community!

Pet owners can also join in breaking the Book of Records for the highest number of pets gathering on Aug 6.

8. ActiveSG Mass Workout

Get active at ActiveSG’s Mass Workout, Dance of the Nation 2022, and join 5,700 others to set a record in the Singapore Book of Records! It will be held on Aug 7 at the National Stadium, from 5pm to 6.30pm.

The dance moves of GetActive! Workout: Dance of the Nation 2022 will be choreographed to this year’s National Day song and is a workout suitable for all ages. Besides the mass workout, you can also look forward to Zumba, Piloxing and KpopX Fitness activities.

9. Campus Legends Festival

If you enjoy gaming, this event is for you! The Campus Legends Season 4 esports festival will be held physically at *SCAPE this year on Aug 6 and 7. The festival features an exciting lineup of esports tournaments, flea market, hands-on workshops and more.

Besides exciting activities such as custom keyboard workshops, you can also stand a chance to win attractive prizes, with $20,000 worth of lucky draw prizes to be given out on both days.

10. Whimsical Wonderland Art Market

For the art lovers, you can discover and engage with up to 16 local creatives at the Whimsical Wonderland Art Market during the National Day weekend!

Highlights of the art market include handcrafted goods by local creatives, photo exhibitions and more. 

Creative brands such as Room To Imagine, Solid State and Peachpao will be showcasing their works and selling their handcrafted goods! Part of the proceeds of the event will go to the Singapore Council of Women Organization (SCWO) fund. 

Admission to the event is free but you can pre-register for the event to receive a door gift worth $20, while stocks last.
