Work On The Self
Split Theatre’s Work On The Self programme is a 10-week journey. Using physical theatre training as a tool, as participants work on their selves, they will also learn to care for and be present with others and with themselves.
With movement, speech, and/or song, participants will get the opportunity to share a personal story. Each of our stories reveal decisions and choices that we have made for ourselves, and those decisions and choices have shaped us into who we are right now. In a space for healing, we also begin to see each other and ourselves for what happened to us, instead of what’s wrong with us. Through the 10-week programme, participants will learn about themselves. Participants will then be empowered to make further decisions and choices to craft their own places in society. As we learn to accept who we are and learn that we can create who we are to be, we will soon realise that our individual voices can affect another and cause a ripple in the wider community. Even as we utilise drama and movement for our programme, participants need not be trained performers. This programme is a culmination of years of academic and practical research.
