Home, Truly: Growing Up with Singapore, 1950s to the Present
An event in collaboration with The Straits Times, as part of the newspaper’s 175th anniversary.
Showcased across five key themes, it features artefacts and photographs from the National Collection and members of the public, as well as audio-visual footage, sounds, scents and special digital features that reveal the personal stories of over 100 Singaporeans, “regardless of race, language, and religion” – and age, too.
On display, you’ll find over 80 objects from the National Collection that showcase the lived experiences of everyday Singaporeans, over 200 photographs on physical and digital platforms, of which a quarter came from community contributions. The five themes – Laying The Foundations, Moving In, Living Together, Open Doors and Sturdy Through Storms – each highlight the different facets of living in Singapore.
