Green Market: The Wonderful World of Plankton
Learn about the wonderful world of plankton through the view of a microscope and never look at a pond, lake, or beach the same way again!
Phytoplankton and zooplankton are vital parts of aquatic ecosystems and form the basis of aquatic food webs. Understanding the role of plankton in aquatic ecosystems will help in advancing the solutions to problems facing today’s water resources, such as harmful algal blooms, eutrophication, and pollution.
In this talk, Dr Maxine will bring the audience through the world of plankton, from the very small to the relatively large, and talk about their impacts on freshwater and marine habitats both in Singapore and globally.
The Green Market is a bi-annual event celebrating sustainable living as a community and connects us with green groups and initiatives that you can support. As part of CapitaLand’s Let’s Get Down to Earth 2022, the Green Market presents World Water Day! The theme spotlights a precious resource, illuminating the ways we connect with it and the impact of our actions.
From 19 to 20 Mar 2022, Green Market: World Water Day offers various interactive events and activities that you can access online and on-site at Choa Chu Kang Public Library. Meet communities and organisations that champion various environmental causes and learn about how you can play your part too at the Green Market Showcase. The event is supported by CapitaLand Hope Foundation and Lot One Shoppers’ Mall.
