New Prime Location Housing Model
The Big Idea
The Singapore Government has crafted many policies to encourage homeownership, mainly by making public housing affordable and accessible. With plans to build more HDB flats in “prime areas”, the Government recently announced measures for these flats with the aim to keep them affordable and accessible to all Singaporeans.
However, since the measures were announced, there had been concerns about some of the rules, such as them being unfair to singles. The long-held notion that property ownership is better than renting has also been questioned.
On 23 November 2021, the Holler! community discussed their thoughts on the recently announced measures for Prime Location Housing (PLH) Model.
